Here are two options of using batteries: 1. 6pcs AA NiMh/ NiCd cells 2. 5pcs AA Alkaline/ Zinc Carbon cells + One dummy AA illustrate: If just install 6pcs AA Alkaline/Zinc Carbon cells it will reach 9V, then the radio will not go into transmit. If it is below 8V, the radio will run well. So it needs a dummy AA cell if you wanna use Alkaline or Zinc Carboon cells.
